The only thing that got pretty irritating later on was the large amount of traveling by foot.

Morrowind was so much better then Oblivion. Once there, the player would need to plant an explosive device and escape in time, through "one way" short cuts that have opened up in the level, preventing the player from having to directly backtrack while introducing more puzzles and enemy encounters to suit the change of pace. Then upon entering the base the player would need to solve puzzles to open up doors and activate lifts while killing guards and various workers to reach the core. If the player had to destroy an Imperial base on a moon, the player would be dropped off by ship away from the base, forcing the player to travel through the terrain killing patrols. It certainly worked.ĭark Forces had fantastic level design because the designers had a theme to work with. The only noticeable difference being that Dark Forces 2 had force jump and therefore made heavy use of the vertical, while Dark Forces 1 usually made use of the vertical to block you off for puzzle solving reasons. But Dark Forces 1 has level design that can rival Dark Forces 2. The variety was insane, some levels were like Half-Life and others were totally different.

I remember one of the later levels (with Bossk type enemies) you were going through like, reactor cores or something. I'd love to revisit that one too, played it a ton years ago when it was new. Dark Forces II however, certainly had some incredible level design on top of the fact that most of the levels were pretty damn long, huge game all around. It's been so long I can't remember it much at all. I'd love to play the original Dark Forces again somehow. I own it on Wii and, personally, I like it much better than even classics such as Ocarina of Time (those gosh darn n64 controllers), and A Link to the Past. The thought of the yet-to-be-announced next Zelda on Wii keeps me up at night and gives me boners. I wouldn't want to play the game on Gamecube because the controls basically add another dimension to the gameplay. It took me a while to get the hang of everything because it's the first Wii game I've ever played, but it really works perfectly. Yup, playing it on Wii and the controls are brilliant. They really do make me feel more involved with the storyline, although I do tend to get addicted to these things easily anyway. Do you have the Wii version? If so, how are you finding the controls? Personally, I love them. Haha, I'm also at the beginning of Twilight Princess at the moment.
